FLOURISH & BLOG

Started in the Spring of 2014, FLOURISH & BLOG was a place where indie authors could get some recognition without spending a small fortune. Authors flocked and the book reviews and interviews were flowing. But the site had to close its virtual doors a year later so the founder could concentrate on her own indie author career. Now that things have settled back down with Amazon, the blog is back and better than ever!

Alex Apostol is a woman who wears many hats. It was in 2012 while living in Hawaii that she decided she wanted to write books for a living and started working on her first novel. In May 2014, she received her Bachelor's degree in English from the American Military University. Her diploma was sent to her while she was in Naval bootcamp in Great Lakes, IL. She went on to the USS PORTER stationed in Norfolk, VA where she published her first indie book. Since then, she has detached from the Navy and went on to become an Amazon Bestselling author of Supernatural Thrillers, Paranormal Suspense, Mythology, and Authorship. Currently, she has nine fiction books and two non-fiction writing journals published and is working on her next piece of fiction. In the summer of 2016, Alex and her father, Jim Apostol, opened a used online bookstore called The Quivering Quill Bookshop. All their profits are going towards opening a brick-and-mortar store in their hometown of Valparaiso, Indiana. Alex has always had a passion for helping other indie authors get started and thrive. If she can pass any knowledge she has learned along the way to others, she'll do it happily. For the past four years, she has worked as a freelance editor, interior layout designer, and cover designer. FLOURISH & BLOG is the next step in sharing what she's learned with other writers who may be in the same position she was in when she started out back in 2012. She has a combined following of over 10,000 people and growing (between Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and her mailing list.) She wants to share the wealth and spread the word about all the amazing indie authors who have yet to be discovered.

When she's not working, Alex likes to spend time with her two-year-old daughter and their wild cat, Bob. To learn more about Alex Apostol, visit her author website.

"I can't speak for other indie authors, but I know the reason I chose this career path instead of doing traditional publishing is because I am a control freak when it comes to my books. I want to have the final say in the cover, how the inside looks, the text, the font, everything. I have mastered many useful skills in doing this that I would love to share with others at a price everyone can be happy with. I remember looking up editors for my first book. For 300 pages I was being quoted between $500 and $1500! It was insane! And, needless to say, I couldn't afford it."
